Previously, Blizzard revealed that it was actually working on several Warcraft mobile experiences that were in “advanced development” as of August 2021. Other official details weren’t shared, including the genre or exactly which element of the Warcraft universe this will cover, although it’s possible that one of the games on the deck is a Rumored to be a Pokemon GO-style AR game.

As for what the rest of the “substantial new content” might be, keep your hopes tempered. It’s possible that this simply refers to new expansions or major fixes, although it’s also possible that the company is considering making another attempt to expand Warcraft beyond the MMORPG after its attempted remake of Warcraft 3 failed for many. It’s unclear what changes could be made to regular business following the announcement of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard in a $68.7 billion deal finalized in 2023.
