State grants loans for water projects in southern Arkansas | Ouachita County

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Commission has approved loans for three water and wastewater projects in southern Arkansas.

The Dallas County Fordyce Rural Water Association received a loan of $ 313,643 from the Water Sewer & Solid Waste Fund. These project funds will be used to replace obsolete residential meters with a new automatic meter reading system. This project will benefit 755 clients.

The Highway 4 & 24 Water Association in Ouachita County received a loan of $ 339,418 with principal cancellation of the Arkansas State Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund for the removal of a hydrant -Fountain to reduce the risk of water stagnation, rehabilitate water reservoirs and build a new water pipe to replace a section that was abandoned due to a leak. The clientele for this project is 865.

The town of Dumas in Desha County received a loan of $ 376,995 from the Arkansas State Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund to connect the community of Pickens to the Dumas water system . This will allow the community of Pickens to purchase water from the town of Dumas and eliminate the need for Pickens to replace its aging water tank. This project will benefit approximately 40 water customers in Pickens.
