Today, Reach announced plans to expand its Scotland-based editorial operations, announcing a new Scottish Express online edition for the first time, the launch of a new Aberdeen Live site and the return of Football Scotland.
The Scottish Express site will be managed by editor-in-chief Ben Borland, who will continue to report to Reach Scotland editor-in-chief David Dick and will work closely with Express editor Gary Jones. 12 new roles were created to support the new site, including a Live News manager and three political editors.
Football Scotland is also set to return, with the hiring of an editor and several other new roles creating a squad of eight journalists. Reach is also recruiting for additional roles for The Daily Record, Edinburgh Live and Glasgow Live.
Scottish editor David Dick commented: “Now is the perfect time to expand our journalism across Scotland. We have a strong idea of what our readers want and how to deliver it, and we’re excited to bring more Scottish voices and perspectives to the fore. ”
On the respective new launches, he added: “The Express is a Scottish news organization with a loyal readership across the country. I am absolutely delighted that we are now bringing Scottish Express content to our digital platforms and I have no doubts that this will quickly become a strong and influential voice in the Scottish media landscape. ”
“Football Scotland will benefit from our now proven model of attracting and engaging a large football audience. I am delighted to bring a unique voice back to the coverage of Scottish football.
“Likewise, I look forward to attracting a new generation of online readers to Aberdeen Live, following the successful model of our other online launches in recent years.
The new sites are all slated to launch later this year and have started recruiting on the Achieve careers to place.
