Punjab Polls: My Helicopter Not Allowed to Fly Because of Prime Minister’s Visit, Says Channi

Punjab Assembly Election 2022: Charanjit Singh Channi says he couldn’t attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Hoshiarpur because his helicopter didn’t get permission

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi claimed on Monday that his helicopter was denied permission to fly to Hoshiarpur due to Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the state.

“I was in Una at 11am but suddenly I was denied permission to fly to Hoshiarpur due to Prime Minister Modi’s move. It was declared a no-fly zone. “I was unable to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Hoshiarpur. I had permission to land,” the ANI news agency quoted Channi as saying.

I was in Una at 11am but suddenly I was denied permission to fly (to Hoshiarpur) due to PM Modi’s movement, it was declared a no-fly zone. I was unable to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Hoshiarpur. I got permission to land: Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi

Channi’s statement comes on a day Prime Minister Modi is due to speak at a poll in Jalandhar, the first since January’s security breach, when his convoy was stuck on a flyover in Ferozepur for 15-20 minutes .

Yesterday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked Channi during a poll in Ludhiana, saying whoever can’t keep the prime minister safe, how can he protect Punjab.

Punjab heads to the polls in a single-stage election on February 20. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
