OSAA Pre-Season Boys Basketball Coach Polls | Sports

WILSONVILLE – The Oregon School Activities Association on Tuesday released its polls for 2021-2022 preseason men’s basketball coaches for each of the six OSAA classifications.

Toledo High School is the only program ranked among Lincoln County’s six boys’ basketball programs. The Boomers got a perfect 8-0 record in last spring’s abridged season and won a state championship in March 2000, just before the start of the pandemic. Toledo, ranked third in 2A, is expected to fire Gunner Rothenberger, a second-team selection from the Sunset Conference entirely in 2A in second school year.

The Boomers are set to replace senior graduates Mason McAlpine, last season’s Sunset Conference defensive player of the year, all-league first-team pick Jaxon Rozewski and Honorable Mention winner Markus Cross.

Starting December 7, the OSAA plans to release a survey of men’s basketball coaches every Tuesday throughout the regular season. Note that the coaching polls have no impact on the OSAA odds which form the basis of the playoff standings. The preseason poll results show the first place votes in parentheses, followed by the total number of points received.
