Most Americans support Russian oil sanctions, even with soaring gas prices: polls

This move came with the recognition that already high gas prices would soar even higher.

And they did. According to AAA, the national average for regular gasoline was $4.32 Monday morning.

The ABC News and CBS News polls were the latest, but not the only ones, to indicate strong support for oil sanctions against Moscow.

Seventy-one percent in a national poll from Quinnipiac University and 79% of respondents in a Wall Street Journal survey — both of which were published last week — backed the sanctions even though they drove prices still higher. higher at the pump.

But support for oil sanctions, whatever their effect on gas prices, doesn’t mean Americans are giving Biden a boost on the current inflation punch.

Seven in 10 polled in the ABC News poll said they disapproved of the president’s handling of gas prices. And 63% of those polled by The Wall Street Journal approved of Biden’s handling of inflation.
