Here’s a marketing idea for you – try to incorporate your company story into your business development and recruit content and social media marketing.
Many of you work in organizations with vibrant and expansive histories and no shortage of retired employees or elderly statesmen/women who would be more than happy to tell you about the story of your company and their stay there.
Your businesses can greatly benefit from the wisdom of these people, as the information they can share with you can be of immense value to your marketing and recruiting efforts.
You can easily record and then transcribe a Q&A with them which can be edited into excerpts.
I’ve seen several companies create successful social media campaigns using information from their company’s history.
For example, one firm launched a “on this day in history” campaign and noted significant events in which it helped to help clients shape the law, using archived photographs as visuals.
Another company used historical information to bring its 100th anniversary campaign to life to show how it had helped certain cities around the world grow.
A younger company has incorporated information about its roots and significant past achievements for its 25th anniversary, emphasizing that you don’t have to be an 1800s company to do it.
I just did a campaign for a law firm that celebrated its fifth anniversary – every year East something to celebrate.
You can create a visual timeline of company milestones and important issues that could be used on your website in presentation materials.
Setting up your business is an important step, as are office openings.
All the firsts of their kind also deserve to be commemorated.
Significant achievements involving your founding partners or VIPs are also high on the list as something you can score. And the list continues.
These are great content to post on social media on days when you have no other content to post.
They also help others learn more about your company and your employees – your alumni, recruits, employees, customers and prospects will all find this information valuable.
