Newbie Kajari Banerjee, sister-in-law of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC candidate for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) election, is “confident of winning the ballot box.”
Kajari became the second member of the CM family to jump into the electoral fray after his nephew Abhishek Banerjee. She challenges from ward 73. âI am confident in every house in this region, I grew up here, it’s like a pujo for me. Because of the weather, people are arriving late, âKajari told News18.
Responding to whether she took advice from CM Mamata for the first elections, Kajari said: âI went to see her yesterday and took advice from her. She gave me all of her blessings and asked me to be careful. I have always been with her in all the polls and she is with me, I know that.

Amid the BJP’s allegations that party members are not allowed to vote, she said it was bogus claims that they are voting. “I do not know what is happening in the north of Calcutta and in other places but it is true that there is no opposition,” she added.
Kajari’s husband and CM Mamata’s brother, Kartick Banerjee, who has helped his wife during campaigns and tours in Ward 73, told News18 that he is still fighting for his didi and will continue to do it.
Ward 73 falls under the Mamata Banerjee constituency in Bhabanipur, which made the CM victorious by more than 6,000 votes in recent polls.
