cbi: Cbi questions the suspended cop, the victim’s husband | Kolkata News

Calcutta: The CBI on Tuesday questioned the suspended officer in charge of Rampurhat Police Station, Tridib Pramanik, in connection with the March 21 killings in Bogtui, a day after recording SDPO Sayan Ahmed’s statement.
Sheklal Sheikh, whose wife Najima Bibi lost her week-long battle for life in hospital on Monday afternoon, also gave her statement to CBI on Tuesday. Najima was among the few survivors alive after eight houses were burned down in the village.
Pramanik’s four-hour interrogation focused primarily on timelines. Panchayat leader Bhadu Sheikh was killed in a bombing at a tea stall off NH-60 at 8:30 p.m. on March 21, while police received reports of burning houses in Bogtui at 9:35 p.m., which means they were burned before that.
Investigators asked Pramanik to tell what happened between Bhadu’s death and the arrival of firefighters in the village at 10:25 p.m. They asked the cop why he left the scene after 30 minutes and was not seen for the rest of the night. His statement was cross-checked with that of SDPO Ahmed.
The CBI again interviewed Mihilal Sheikh, who lost family members in the fire, to determine if he had a rivalry with Bhadu. Sheklal, on the other hand, told investigators that SDPO Ahmed and Officer Pramanik could have been more proactive that night.
