Can you name the Liverpool XI of Michael Owen’s debut 1997?

Michael Owen might not be the fan favorite at Liverpool these days but it is sometimes forgotten how good he was at scoring goals.

Owen has scored 158 goals in 297 appearances for Liverpool, the first in a 2-1 loss at Wimbledon in May 1997.

Liverpool had fought Manchester United for the title for much of the 1996-97 season, but this setback at Selhurst Park effectively handed the title back to United. Roy Evans’ side would finish fourth, behind Newcastle and Arsenal, missing out on Champions League qualification.

But most of all, Owen’s scoring game is remembered – even though he didn’t start the game. We ask you to name the eleven who started the game for Liverpool in South London.
